events we're seeing this weekend, iowa, colorado, ohio, virginia, all states he carried in 2008. are there worries here that he hasn't generated the same amount of excitement and that there may be issues in those states he carried? >> well, yeah, no question. i think that voter intensity is to key that you mentioned because the president has got to drive out his core voters, younger people, minorities, women. he's got to run up the totals there, particularly as he loses ground among particularly white voters that you see among males. we talk about a gender gap, it benefits the president among women, it disadvantages him among men. that's an advantage for republicans typically and for mitt romney in this case. i think that's very important. and, look, the president has to deal with the fact that mitt romney is in a dead-even race with him. the president's approvals is under 50%. it's a deadlock race. this is going to be very tight. the republicans are in a fairly strong position for all the negative ads that have been thrown their way. >> david, thank you. we'll check back with you la
